FIFA has officially announced the pot allocations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup draw, marking another major milestone ahead of the world’s biggest football event. With the tournament now less than 200 days away, excitement continues to build as teams finalize their preparations for football’s most prestigious stage.
This edition of the World Cup will be the first to feature 48 teams, divided into 12 groups of four. FIFA confirmed that 42 nations have already secured qualification, while the remaining six spots will be decided through upcoming European and inter-confederation playoffs.
Hosts Automatically Placed in Pot 1
According to FIFA’s regulations, host nations United States, Canada, and Mexico are placed automatically in Pot 1, regardless of their FIFA World Rankings. The rest of the pot placements are determined based on the official rankings issued by FIFA.

The identities of the final six participating teams will be confirmed through the playoff matches scheduled over the next several months. Once qualified, these teams will be placed directly into Pot 4, completing the lineup for the draw.
